How to delete your account

This page explains how to delete your account and your data in Message in a Bottle (물병편지), an app by Beetrace (비트레이스).

Delete your account in the app

Open the Message in a Bottle app and sign in.
Go to the ‘Menu’ tab at the bottom, then open ‘Account’.
Select ‘Delete account’ at the bottom right of the screen.
Read the notice and tap ‘Delete account’ to confirm. Your account is deleted right away.

Before you delete your account

You cannot delete your account while a signpost you created is still standing. Delete those signposts first. A signpost that still has members cannot be deleted, so remove every member before you delete it.

Order: remove the members → delete the signpost → delete your account

Data that is deleted

Account details — email address, nickname, profile photo, date of birth, gender, sign-in credentials
Photos you uploaded to your profile gallery
Device information used to deliver push notifications

This data is deleted together with your account and cannot be restored.

Data that remains

The letters, replies, signpost posts and comments you wrote — these are not deleted; only the author is changed to anonymous. It keeps the conversation whole for the people who replied to you.
Records of your direct enquiries and reports — kept for 3 years after the case is closed, as required by law.

If you cannot use the app

If you cannot delete your account in the app — after losing your device, for example — write to beetrace082@gmail.com and we will verify your identity and handle it for you.
